Copper Bee Apiary

A garden apiary in Whittlesford, Cambridge, UK - honey bees and their beekeeper Hilary van der Hoff.

Honey Bees by Arndt & Tautz

The Natural History Museum shop has tables piled with books with appealing titles and covers, and among them I saw a heavy hardback entitled Honey Bees. Maybe just a superficial coffee table book….who is the author?…oh, this is a serious book. It was by Juergen Tautz and Ingo Arndt. I picked it up.

Juergen Tautz is a researcher who writes expertly about bees. And Ingo Arndt is a brilliant photographer. His name is first on the cover, maybe to be alphabetical but also because this is a “picture-led” book.

It was my birthday - the perfect excuse (if one were needed) to buy it.

I’ve just started reading it, and it’s a beautiful thing to read.

Nothing to do with the book, except that it was also in the Natural History Museum.
